“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” – Colossians 3:12-14
Fashions come and go, pop culture moves at a fast pace, and if you don’t keep up you won’t know what’s going on with the latest celebrity hot gossip and stuck wearing last season’s style from the now discounted clearance racks. We pride ourselves on owning the latest, greatest, and best products, technology, and information. In having the best products, it reflects to others our economic worth and value. Granted it may reveal how padded our bank accounts are, however, it does not reflect the value of our heart or our capacity to love. So what great fashion do we put on in the morning to reflect our hearts?
In this verse, God is showing us that when we wake up in the morning, we should put on economy of His love to reflect to others. We should pull over our head a cashmere mix of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience to keep us covered for the day. As accessories, we should slip on the jewelry of forgiveness for one another. And before we run out the door with our cup of coffee in hand, it’s important to put on our shoes of love that walk with us wherever we go and provide us support for whatever we are going through that day and whoever we come in contact with by tying the laces on our love which completes our look together in perfect unity.
When you get ready today, think about what you are putting on to hold your look together for the day.
This is a great look for anyone that will never go out of style or cost you anything! Now all I need to do is go grab that cup of coffee and I’m ready to start my day!
Thanks for the great post! It has reminded me to participate in my morning affirmations. Every morning I wake I reflect on these two things: May I be of love today; may I be of service today.
Thanks for helping us to all set good intentions for ourselves and others!
Thanks Jill! Those are great affirmations! I love it!
